Well, here we are at another Saturday night. My husband stands here ready for bed and taking his meds. Since I last wrote on this blog, my husband discovered he had a hernia. Since then, in one week's time, he has had surgery.
While he was being operated on in our local hospital, I sat in the out patient surgical waiting room. The older lady behind the desk was very nice. She showed me where the coffee and tea were to be found and chatted a little. Then a younger man came in. He was 2 years younger than my oldest son. After just a few minutes he was talking away. We all heard his whole life history!
Later while I sat with my husband in the out patient area, getting him ready to leave, I saw the same young man. His wife had had a surgery to remove a plate from her arm. She looked miserable and was leaving on her own with her husband trailing behind her with his arms full of her coat and bag.(I heard the nurse catch up to her and ask her where she was going! She hadn't signed out or anything!) I felt bad for being annoyed about his incessant chatter. Apparently his wife wasn't one who was willing to talk or at least pleasantly!
Well. My husband hasn't wanted to sit still very long. He is still on pain meds and is still a bit worn out easily. But neither of us are 20 anymore! He'll bounce back just fine. Just not over night.
Other than that, we had Easter Cantata practice today. A bit early, I do think, but the choir director wants us to be ready for Easter! Also my brother is at my mother's house temporarily. We haven't seen him in about 8 years! He lives in Missouri and has been working as a contractor in Iraq and Afghanistan for the past 6 years or so, coming home on short breaks.
It was wonderful to visit with him. We reminisced about childhood happenings, and he told us about the wonderful people of Iraq. He especially told us a story about a young boy he met there with a great big smile! He gave the boy a ball point pen that the boy had admired. The little boy thought it was the best thing he had ever had! The Americans gave him and other children fresh bottles of water too. Something they lack there.
He told us it's the Taliban who are making trouble there and trying to control things. -- he said the people themselves are good people. I wish he could talk to our youth group and tell them how it is there. --
Well- time to end. My husband put Criminal Minds on TV, and now I have to watch and see what happens! And I wanted to read for a bit too. Oh well!

This was a very nice post with all kinds of bits of wisdom and some food for thought. Hope your husband is all healed by now.
