It is Monday. It is 9:36 AM and it is very quiet in my house. The dogs are both sleeping, the radio and television
are both off, and I am the only one stirring. My husband is off today, but he is at a doctor's appointment, and my teenage daughter is in the other room working on her English paper. My 11 year old is not a morning person- he's a night owl, so I usually get him up at this time- I will do that in a few minutes. Homeschooling allows us to follow a different schedule than public school kids. He gets his schooling in, but on our own schedule.
There is a yellow goldfinch out at our bird feeder. It seems that every day that I see him he is more and more yellow. I guess that's a sure sign that Spring is on it's way. There are also two fat squirrels out there that have been robbing my bird feeders- but I guess they have to eat too. And by the looks of those pudgy tummies, they have been eating quite a bit! A few days ago we had a Pileated Woodpecker at the suet! It was amazing! But it was too large to get its beak into the suet! It was beautiful!
We didn't get all the snow that many other areas got on the east coast. I have family from Florida up to Maine. Those living in Maryland and on up to Phillie got tons of snow on Friday. But much to my kids dismay, (and mine), we only got a few silvery flakes on Sunday morning here in Northeast Pa.
But not to worry! On Wednesday we are supposed to get blasted! So I am planning on getting out there
with my youngest son and playing in the snow: building snow people, throwing snow balls, and going sledding.
I know it will be the last snow of the season.
On these cold winter days we have been house bound much of the time because of my son's asthma acting up. So we have been working on various art projects as a reward for not complaining when we have to do the day's math lesson.
We made paper boxes the other day.
First we made an apple stamp by slicing an apple across horizontally so it had a star in the middle.
Then we cut it to size and printed the paper.

Then we read the directions in our paper craft book and made the boxes.

Here are the finished boxes.

They turned out a bit smaller than we thought they would have, but it was lots of fun
to create them!
Maybe today I will open up my paper craft book again and see what
project we can make.
Thank you so much for stopping by my blog...Yes! We got a bunch of snow and more coming in this week. My brother in MD got 32inches..that's 2 1/2 feet!! Yikes. I hope you get some so your kids can play.. I went out Saturday and drove around a bit and saw a lot of people shoveling, snow blowing, etc. but not one kid building a snowman!! What has happened to our children? Mine were always out in the snow. Hooray for you to homeschool... I have always been sorry I didn't do it.. Have a great week..hopefully one with a little snow!!
