Well, I was hoping to see a bear before we moved, and I got my wish!
This is a bear that was in a tree behind my friend's house.
Adorable isn't it? But you'd better watch out for Mama!!! She is extremely dangerous especially
when she has cubs! This little bugger had two siblings!
And here's Mama.
They are so very black, aren't they? ~ My friend lives on the edge of town. But the next day
there was a different Mama with 2 cubs in town. She was treed with her two cubs and quite a few
people came to see! That really scares Mama and cub! We drove by a few hours later and she
was just down and by a garbage can! That's what they are after- food. They must be extra hungry
right now or something!
Another neighbor told us this afternoon that a bear had torn off the door of her husband's
Almond truck that he had parked in a parking lot by the woods. He sells cinnamon almonds at different
gatherings. A bear tore the back door of his truck right off! They had to get ply wood and board it up.
And a few years ago I saw one leap the chain link fence in our back yard, walk across the yard and leap
another one like it was nothing! They are A LOT more agile then you think they would be!!
Most people we know who have houses out of town and in the wooded communities near here,
can't have bird feeders because the bears love them for a snack!
So....... beware, and NEVER feed the bears! They are wild animals!
I saw my first Vermont bear just this spring. We visited Yosemite two years ago, and we saw a video on just how aggressive (and clever)they can be when they smell food in a car. Impressive. i enjoyed your pictures.
ReplyDeleteVermont bears are black too, right?
