Farewells
This morning was our United Methodist Women's meeting for the month of June. They were very gracious and made me the guest of honor. There were pretty peach table cloths and silk dogwood flowers sprinkled on the table with a pink basket of flowers. Plus a lovely cake too. We had lots of goodies for lunch type refreshments.
But before that the ladies asked me to share about our new assignment in our new church in South Jersey. My husband- Pastor D- showed on a map of NJ where we are moving. It is 170 miles south from here in Jersey. He also showed where the other 4 appointments were that we served in NJ since 1985. Some of the appointments were two point charges, which means that we had two churches at one time. On a Sunday morning we usually would have a 8:30 or 9AM service at our smaller church then an 11:00 service at the larger church. We have had 3 two point charges. I have heard of pastors having more than that. Sometimes 4 or 5!! That takes some juggling of the schedules! I did a little presentation about the area that we will be moving to and showed pictures of our new house and church.
This isn't the greatest picture, but it gives a little glimpse of the church. It is a large brown stone church, circa about 1862. Here's another little glimpse.
So -- the farewell gathering was very nice. We also went outside and the ladies dedicated a dogwood tree that had been planted by the office windows. It will be lovely when in bloom. How very nice.
Now tomorrow there is a luncheon after church at a restaurant near by, also a time for farewells. Our friends here at our present church are so wonderful. There are so many caring, loving people here whom we have shared so much with. It will be hard to say good bye. I hope we see them again. I know we will see some of them again!
The new house is in the center of the picture, next to the little piece of church that it shows. (This is a panoramic shot, so things look a little stretched out.) The new house has lots of closets, I plan to unpack the essentials and store some boxes in closets to get to when I get to. (Shh.. that's a secret!! Ha Ha!) -- (Kitchen, bedrooms, living areas and homeschool room are essentials!!)
