I started the day, ( when I got back home from sitting with my friend who needs a sitter while her husband is at Bible study) - by making pumpkin pancakes. I really got into making them and ended up making quite a few. (I made hazelnut coffee to go with them too.) They were good, but didn't taste enough like pumpkin for me. I should have put in more pumpkin when I made them. But they were good anyway. My husband had left for the induction of our new Bishop with some others and wouldn't be home till 3. My kids- younger and older- didn't get up till after 10. Two of them go to work at 2 on Saturdays. So I let them sleep in. But when they all got up, one didn't feel well, two didn't want pancakes and one didn't like pumpkin pancakes without even trying them. So I baggied them up and they are in the frige for my husband in the morning.

I had planned to go out with the kids to get some spider webs for the porch, but I ended up vacuuming up the constant dog hair under the diningroom table and cleaning up the place.  They went without me but we won't be able to put them up till after the hurricane.

I did make a cake for our Dinner and a Movie over at church. I think I did alright, except the mouth. I totally messed that up. I had to use frosting out of a can with a tip that goes on it. I was running late and my kids had gotten me the wrong kind of frosting. So I just used it anyway. Oh well. Lesson learned.

My husband thought she was Marge Simpson!

My youngest son J and I worked on his halloween mask. He blew up a balloon and I showed him how to cover it with paper mache. After it dries he will cut out the eyes and paint it white with black circles and some other markings. It's supposed to be a Naruto guy form the cartoon he watches.

Next we will have to work on his costume. We have black fabric to drape around him and he needs a purple belt to tie around his waist. He decided to go trick or treating this year with some friends. Last year he was too old for trick or treating

I am not totally anxious about this hurricane. I guess that's because the weather men usually hype things up much more then they really happen. But... the governor has declared a state of emergency and no one except emergency vehicles will be allowed on the roads on Tuesday. So I guess I'd better go turn on the weather channel and start getting concerned. I did buy hard rolls and hamberger, lettuce, tomatoes, pork cutlets and a nice london broil to cook on the grill on the porch in case the electricity goes out. We will just have to wait and see what happens. I still have to pick up some charcoal. I forgot that today.
I guess I will end now and return after I know something more about the impending hurricane.
Adios!

  1. I thought the cake was Marge Simpson, too.
Better to be prepared and not get the hurricane as bad as they hype. Otherwise you would all be eating cold pancakes. ;)

  2. We made out fine. The steak was great, but the Shoprite grocery store upped its prices before the storm! We paid $11 for a not so big bag of charcoal!
