We had a wonderful Mother's Day this year! The Saturday night prior our son A and his girlfriend showed up unexpectedly on our porch! Unexpected by me at least! They brought me a lovely hanging planter!
Sunday morning I delivered the Mother's Day sermon at both services and had the ladies at church read the Lord's Prayer in parts. It was broken up in phrases and there were some lines about each phrase. Each part related to a different color and we it a candle for each one. One little glitch that happened was that for the 2nd service I replaced the floating candles with different ones because I thought the first ones may be too burnt down. - I had jars with different colored water for each reading. The candles I replaced the first ones with had a little metal bottom to it which I took off for fear it made it too heavy to float. When I took the bottom off, the wick fell out the middle so when the ladies tried to light the candle they couldn't! So we pretended to light the candles except for one lady who tried and tried! We were using long fireplace matches and the flame was burning it up! We whispered for her to put it out in the water but she blew it which made it worse! So finally someone stepped up and helped her put it out quickly. Oh boy! It's always something! Ha ha!
Well, our son from Maine and his wife and our little grandson came to visit the last couple of days. What a great time we had! He is 2 1/2 now and really big! He is talking lots and is full of energy!
He loves his trains! He especially love Thomas the Tank Engine!
We went to a playground and Grandmom and Grandpa took turns following the little cherub around and up and over and down the slides! Did I mention he has lots of energy?
In other news...our daughter D is looking for a new job. Not an easy task. We have been trying to tell her that she has to do more than apply online. She has to go out in the flesh too! Fun fun fun!
I am still going to weight watchers but have only lost 8 pounds so far! I was hoping it would come off a little faster. I need to start walking outside on a regular basis. I think that will help. I also need new sneakers to do it in. ...... Well, I am writing this at night and it's time for me to turn in now. Have a good day or night. What ever the case may be! And be blessed!
PS.... I didn't post this post right away because I was writing it on my ipad and I had a hard time adding pictures from there. So.... since I originally wrote this, I have gotten new sneakers- much more springy than the old ones, which is a good thing, and I have started my walking routine. I walk for 1/2 an hour every other day. I am enjoying the walks. It's fun checking out houses on my walk and noticing things I missed before.
Also today is Memorial Day. Our church had a float in the parade. We made a cardboard replica of our church painted by the kids (turned out pretty good!) and we had a great time at a picnic at our friend's house. They host the picnic every year. Our friend is the Mayor and puts the invitation in the local newspaper for all to come. There was a big turnout this time. People bring a cover dish, hot dogs and sloppy joes provided. ~ Hope you had a good holiday!
