It may not be the official start of fall, but in my book the beginning of Sept. is the beginning of fall!
My wreath with orange, yellow and brown leaves is on the front door. My youngest son J is starting to talk about Halloween and the up coming Harvest Festival in a nearby town that has great rides there too! I am beginning to think about apple cobbler and pumpkin pie. Ok- maybe I am rushing it a little, but I am anxious for fall!
Yesterday was our grandson's 3rd birthday! We called and told him happy birthday. He told us happy birthday back! He's such a cute little guy! He speaks his Japanese as well as his English! He speaks Japanese to mama and English to Grandpa and Grandmom. Papa gets a little of both.

Grandson E checking out the fish he and his daddy caught! |
We had a fantastic vacation. We played things by ear and also found some great restaurants to try out. The kind of places that certainly don't look like much from the outside, but the food is great!
Ships Chow Hall serves Crab Benny! Eggs Benedict with crab on it! Wow! Our little one ate a whole plate of 2 sunny side up eggs, 3 strips of bacon and something else, plus a whole plate of whole wheat blueberry pancakes! Where does he put it all?He eats more than his mama! (They also serve cranberry waffles- yum!)
Our son N and Grandson E and Grandpa went fishing and had a great time catching lots of large mouth bass of various sizes. (I went as the photographer.) I was sitting with my feet in the pond water and son N says- "That water feels great doesn't it. Don't sit there too long or the leaches may get your legs!" With that I more than quickly pulled my legs out of the water!! (This was after he had come out from a swim.) Then he said "Don't worry Mom, the fishes probably ate most of them by now!" He is so bad!!
All in all we had a great and very relaxing vacation. We ended it by celebrating our grandson's 3rd birthday.
Now we are back home to reality. There are always endless chores to do and projects to work on, but such is life.
I give thanks this evening as I write this for the wonderful brood of kids we have raised and their spouses or girlfriends and our grandson. God has been good to my hubby and I.
