We received some very sad news yesterday. We have some friends whom we haven't been in touch with for quite a while. Our lives drifted apart. About 5 years ago we visited them up in Maine where they had moved. Then last June when we were up there again, we drove past their house and knocked on their door but no one answered. They didn't answer the phone either. - Yesterday my husband saw their daughter on facebook and messaged her. She answered him and told him that her dad had died 2 years ago from a sudden heart attack!
He was such a sweet guy. We worked with him and his wife while we worked with handicapped adults. The school we worked for summered in Maine. We had many many fun times together. I guess we have known them for at least 38 years!
I remember a funny time when he had the client he worked with out in a row boat. The water on the coast of Maine is most always icy cold. He landed the boat on the shore and walked up on the beach for something. When he turned around the boat had drifted back out and the man in it was just a smiling away having a grand old time! Our friend R had to quickly swim out to the boat in the ice cube water and pull the boat back to shore. -- Good times.
We once talked about our futures when we were all in our 20's. We were all going to open a small restaurant. My husband and our friend R were going to be the cooks and make wonderful breakfasts. His wife L and I were going to make crafts and sell them in the front room of the restaurant. --- Dreams.
I guess I am still a little in shock. I don't know how to contact his wife except to send her a card which I am mailing tomorrow.
So that is what is on my mind tonight. -- I just came home from my 3 hours at the youth center. We only had a small crowd tonight because there was a big harvest festival a few towns away and lots of kids go there for the rides and excitement. I may go on Sunday to see it all.
Now I must end and go nurse my headache. I think I haven't been drinking enough water. I know I haven't. I think I will go make a cup of herbal tea and go to bed. Tomorrow is another day.
Good night and may God bless you.
Life does take funny twists and turns in spite of all the plans we may make.
