Welcome October

Welcome October

This has turned out to be a very busy week for me. Yesterday I went to my 6:30am Bible Study, then came home and walked down to the coffee shop with my husband. It's so funny because about 4 women from the Bible Study came by to get coffee too. We don't like the coffee served where we meet for Bible Study - So after that I hopped in the car and drove to weight watchers. That's about 20 minutes away. -- I stayed the same in weight. So far I have lost 10 pounds but now it has slowed down!!! My goal is to lose 2 pounds this week! After getting home from that, I sat down at the computer and tried to complete a health questionnaire that would give us a lower rate for next year of health insurance if both spouses did it. I couldn't find the form anywhere on the site and was becoming frustrated! Then my mom called to ask if I had left yet!

I told her no and where was I going? ( I had forgotten I had said I would take her to the dentist.) So I dashed off to her house, 15 minutes away. - We are "away" from most places! - I took her to the dentist. It took about 2 hours. She had many cavities and I found out she hadn't been for a couple of years! She had been doing this completely on her own-- or not doing it! So she got a new plate and they filled a couple of cavities, and she has to come back in a few weeks. Afterwards she wanted to go out to lunch, but I told her she probably would do better having some soup at lunch. So... I got home and our youngest son J was home from school already. I got another cup of coffee, and started working on the questionnaire again.

I called the customer service and was put on hold for a long time. I hung up and searched some more. It really wasn't easy to find and I had waited till the last day to do it! Finally I reached a live person at customer service. She was very nice and helped me find the form online. Within 10 minutes I had it finished! Yea!

By that time I was beat, so I was longing for a catnap. Unfortunately it didn't happen! I should have started dinner, but I decided to work on my knitting for a few minutes. I hardly ever get regular time to do it except for our lady's night out on Thursday, and it needs more attention then that! So I knitted for a little while. When I went into the kitchen, son J had started some mac and cheese. So I put on some hot dogs and we had mac and cheese and hot dogs, with ketchup of course! Good old ketchup! Garrison Keeler does a skit on ketchup. I'll save that for another blog!

After that I had to go figure out what to wear to our church conference. It is the once a year business meeting of the church. We lift up our ministries and talk about our plans for the future. Then go over finances and the like. this year we didn't have the dreaded Parsonage Inspection! (Dreaded because I have in the past, made the kids clean their rooms to perfection and help me perfect the rest of the house for the Superintendent to inspect- yes that has happened in the past as a regular part of parsonage life!) -- Our new district superintendent was going to be there, and being the pastor's wife, I had to look nice. When I got there, many people were in jeans and nice tops. I must admit I was feeling envious, but I do have to dress up for meetings like these being the pastor's wife and seeing how the district superintendent was there. My hubby and she and a few others were more dressed up in more than jeans too. ~~ So by the time we were done, an hour and a half later, I wasn't feeling very well. My belly was hurting. Must have been that mac and cheese I wolfed down so quickly. I have gall stones and most of the time I am pretty careful what I eat, but I guess the butter and milk in the mac and cheese were bothering me. (It's the dairy fat. )

I went home, put on my night gown- picked up my knitting again, and watched TV for a while, hoping no one would come to the door. My daughter had put on Jurasic Park III then she went out. I watched for a little while until the boy was holding a vile of Tyranosaurus Rex pee and didn't want to tell the other guy how he got it! "Don't ask." he said. I didn't ask either. I turned the channel. The next channel was showing how they made exercise equipment in the factory bolt by bolt and all the steel involved! Hmmm.... finally my hubby came in and turned on NCIS New Orleans. So we watched that for a while while they tried to figure out where the Bubonic Plague was coming from. -- Then I went to bed.

Today I had some more computer work to do and a million other chores. I thought I'd squeeze in a blog while I was online. So here I am.

I just briefly read the blog Homemaking Through the Church Year. She asked what we were knitting and reading.... I am reading Boundaries by Henry Cloud and John Townsend. It is talking about boundaries in our lives and how they are often abused and how we can work on that. It is pretty interesting and helpful with some issues we have recently been dealing with. I am reading it on Ibooks on my ipad. I try to get some reading time in at least every other day.

I have also just started reading Acceptance and Gratitude Spiritual Practices for Everyday Life  by
Hendrickson Publishers. We are studying this with our lady's Bible Study.

As far as knitting goes I am still working on a medium green sweater for my grandson E. I was hoping to be finished by this time but when we went to Maine in August and I saw how big he was, I didn't even take it out of the bag! I am redoing it in a bigger size. I'll show you a picture when I am finished! Hopefully before Christmas.

So to close this blog today i wanted to include a picture of some neat Autumn treats! I think I will try them out soon! --- Have a great rest of your day! Hope it's not as crazy as my day! Ha Ha!
