Sickies at home!
It has been a November of sicknesses off and on. I had an intestinal flu for about a week which totally wiped me out. Thankfully I was able to sleep. My hubby had a few days of really watching what he ate because he didn't feel well, my daughter had to intestinal bug and our 4 yr. old granddaughter has had a cold for the past 2 1/2 weeks. One that produces that croupy kind of cough! I took her to the doctor on Sat. and they say she has an upper respiratory infection so she's on Amoxicillin as well as cough meds. And I also caught her cold. I'm taking cough meds which help with the coughing but I am really tired. I am headed to the doctor in an hour just to be sure I don't have infection too. I have to babysit tomorrow. I don't want to get the little ones sick.
(Here is a picture of one of our granddaughter's butterfly costumes from Halloween that I forgot to post! She loved it. )
The trees outside are very bare. They are in their winter nakedness. The sumac were the last to lose their leaves. They were red with their red cones that they have. My hubby really dislikes the sumacs. He says they are a nuisance and invasive. - I still like them.
He is on a mission to fence in our yard to keep the deer out of his gardens. It should be interesting to see the outcome of his fence project. I really think if the deer want to come in, they will find a way. The occasional bear too. He hasn't been around lately though.
I have started to feed the winter birds on our deck railing. We love to watch them. Two blue jays are out there now. There have been chickadees, juncos, mourning doves, nuthatches and tuffed tit mouses. (mice?) I want to get some suet for the wood peckers. I really love to see them. That is one reason I love the cold months. I love to watch the birds. We had an occasional squirrel last year, but not too many. There were 2 gray squirrels and 1 little red squirrel.
I have been trying really hard to get my knitting projects done for Christmas. I have 3 scarves done and half of another and I just started a bright red one for one of our granddaughters. I have a baby hat finished and most of a baby bag (sac). Its like a sweater with no sleeves and closed at the bottom. I hope it's big enough when Christmas rolls around. That new baby is growing by leaps and bounds! My daughter in law has taken to calling her Chunky Monkey! She's 2 months old now and weighs 11 pounds. She started at 7 pounds 4 ounces.
Well- I must go now. I have been working on typing up an advent devotional for our two churches. I got some people from the churches to write up meditations on scripture and I am typing it up and the secretary will help me print it out and make booklets. They will be white inside with red covers. -- So..... have a good rest of the day. If I don't get back here before Thanksgiving, have a good one!
