We used to live in a house next to a cemetery. There was another one across the street. The kids in the neighborhood used to play bloody Mary in that there was a statue of a woman atop a stone in the cemetery across the street. The woman was facing away from the street and was supposed to have bright red shining eyes at night time if you looked straight at those red eyes! The kids loved to test out this theory. I, myself, never tried it out. I highly doubt the truth in it, but the kids enjoyed the game.
There were however some "strange" things that happened during our stay in that house. Once our young teenage son was in his room. He was in the top bunk of the bunkbed he and his brother shared. His brother was out at the time. Son N was asleep and woke to see a tall dark image of a man walk past the bed. N grabbed a baseball bat, (I never did figure out why he had that on his bed), and swung it at the figure. It went right through. N jumped off his bed and ran downstairs to tell us. He was so scared and shaking. We told him to calm down and maybe he was dreaming. He went and took a shower and came down just a few minutes later saying he felt it in the bathroom too! So my hubby, who is a pastor, went up to N's room with N. N ripped the rock and roll posters off of his walls and had his dad pray in the room. Then N got a red marker and put crosses on all the window sills. -- The marker part may have been a little overboard, but after that he had peace of mind and calmed down. He never did put those posters back up. He will swear to you to this day that this really happened.
Another time, some years later, both N and his older brother were out. They shared a room again but at the opposite end of the hall then the other room. They were both out. One at school the other at work. There was a back stairs that led upstairs right by their room from the kitchen. I heard their radio playing some music so I went up to turn it off. I got right outside their door and turned the door handle to go in, and the music stopped. So I glanced in the room and closed the door thinking that was weird. When I went back downstairs again, I heard the music again. So I went back upstairs once again. As soon as I opened the door the music stopped. This time I left the door wide open and stayed long enough to straighten up their beds and I left the door open when I went back down stairs. I didn't hear it after that.
A pastor, who had lived in the house before us, told me that he had heard noises in the basement in the middle of the night. The water heater kept being disconnected several times. -- Our daughter also swears she saw a face looking in the window at night more than once. Strange happenings.
More recently, a friend of ours husband passed away. His funeral was on the same day as her birthday. That morning after she came downstairs she distinctly heard his voice call down from up stairs, "happy birthday!"
Have you ever thought about animal spirits? Our large dog died about 5 years ago. I was with her at the vet's when she was put down. She was in my arms. He had laid a beautiful quilt on the floor for her. The next day we were sitting at the dining room table and I glanced at the side door which had a large window. There she was madly wagging her tale. She was smaller than her adult size. She was her puppy size, which wasn't that small! Then she disappeared. That same afternoon I saw her quickly run into the playroom, which I had not let the dogs into to keep it dog hairless for the baby granddaughter. It made me laugh to see her dash in there. Of course she would! That night as I sat in our parlor, I strongly felt her presence. I told her over and over that she was a good dog and finally I told her she could go and find Yuka- her buddy, my son's dog who had recently passed away. Then I left and went to bed. After that I didn't see her or feel her anymore.
You may think I am crazy or overboard with all this, but it's true. I don't talk about it much because many people don't believe in all this, but I do. You are free to your own opinions. What do you think about all this?
I totally believe in ghosts or spirits because I believe in life after death. It only makes sense that some would want to communicate. I also believe in reincarnation because why wouldn't God be into recycling?
ReplyDeleteAs for animals, I have felt my cat jump up on my bed a number of times after he died. He was a big cat whose landing on the bed would not go unnoticed in life or in death.
Olga- thank you for your affirmation. I love your thoughts on reincarnation. I never thought of it that way! :-)
