Welcome Fall and Reorganization!

Fall is here! Yea! I love the fall and winter too, but you know, I think fall is becoming my favorite, or very close to it. Winter is my most favorite. I was born in January. I claim that to be the reason that I am such a big fan of winter. -- My granddaughter A is a January baby also. She wishes for a summer birthday so that she can have a birthday party in the park. -- We will have to make her birthday very special this year. Maybe sledding or something like that.

I did make a batch of peach butter. I want to make some more, but my kitchen is in chaos! We have ordered a new refrigerator and it will be taller than the last one. So we decided to put it against a different wall in the kitchen. That meant that we had to move a big cabinet that was there. I remember how hard it was to bring that cabinet into the house, so I tried to figure out where it could be used else where. - Now it's in our granddaughter's bedroom acting as a
dresser and shelves for her toys. It works!

Then we had to have the electricians come to put in an appropriate outlet and rewire it in the basement all the way to the circuit box. They also put one in on the opposite side of the wall from the kitchen, in the living room. We needed one there for when we put out the Christmas village, in leu of extension cords.  -- So.... I also had to move an antique glass door bookcase that was in the living room with many books inside. I still am in the process of reshelving the books.--I have found about 5 that I kept out to read!

Next we needed some kind of tall thin cabinet for the kitchen for storage. Right now I have boxes of baking dishes on the kitchen floor  that need to be stored. - I looked online and found a nice tall pantry type cabinet, but in the reviews I learned that we would have to assemble it and one woman said it was shotty- not well made. So I looked on facebook market place. I found someone selling some tall pine cabinets. The only thing was they were an hour away and 8 feet tall. --We went to get them.

I prayed all the way home that we would not lose the one on top. (We had 2 straps holding it when we left.) It was an hour away and we had to take a highway, but we made it! Thank the Lord!!

Next we had our neighbor who is a woodworker come over and cut the cabinet shorter so that it fits in the kitchen. That went well with no problems. Now the door has to be attached

So the cabinet is waiting for hinges to be attached. Hopefully today or tomorrow it will make it upstairs to the kitchen! I really will feel a lot better when we can get organized again. And I am not attempting any more canning until then.

The refrigerator arrives Oct. 8. My husband gets his new knee on Oct. 1st! And one last thing is, in the space where the old refrigerator is now, we want to have an extended counter put in.

By Thanksgiving everything should be done. Maybe in the spring or next summer we can have our floors redone. But that's a whole different project. I am excited with the present project. And by then, my husband will be feeling better and his knee should be healed.

So that's what's happening in this neck of the woods. How about by you?
