January Birds and Covid!

Well, it's January. It's almost halfway through now. Christmas was wonderful. Of course, the best   part of Christmas for me is always having the family here. I love when all my kids are together under one roof. Only one of my sons and one daughter were absent this year. Unavoidable.

So here I sit. I put the black birdseed out on the rail on the deck outside. I also have a suet feeder out there. Usually I have quite a mix of birds feeding- Juncos, Mourning Doves, Tufted Titmouses, Chickadees, once in a while a Cardinal, Wrens, Gold Finches and Nuthatches. Today it has mostly been Blue Jays and a Squirrel. Blue Jays are the bullies of the bird feeders. No one else hangs around when there is a Blue Jay there. Today there has also been a Hairy Woodpecker out there, and a little while ago I glanced up and there was a Red Headed Woodpecker, The Woodpeckers are my favorites!

The last photo is the Hairy Woodpecker, but not the greatest picture!

So besides watching the birds, we have been quarantining from Covid. Our daughter in law got it and we had been exposed, and then our 7 year old granddaughter who lives with us was positive on her test. So this coming Wednesday she can go back to school.  Covid seems to be everywhere! It's a nasty beast. We only had colds, buy our granddaughter started out with vomiting, a headache, runny nose and cough, plus a         fever. Now she just has the runny nose.  It's on it's way out!

Well, I got up at 4 this morning because I couldn't sleep. But now I am very sleepy. So I will go now and wish you well. Stay warm if you are in the NE like me, and stay healthy!

  1. I very much miss feeding the birds. Once we get back to the country, I'm looking forward to doing that again!
