Wednesday.

Well, another Wednesday is past. We didn't exactly accomplish all that I had planned for home school yesterday, but we did get through enough I guess. We spent the morning at the doctor's for a re-check on J's meds. We discussed a plan for his ADD meds and asthma meds. Actually, I am trying not to use ADD meds right now. I am using some herbal supplements. One called Focus and the other called Bright Spark. They do make a difference. Not a miracle cure, but nothing really is. But they do make a noticeable difference. For one thing, when he doesn't take them his volume is much louder.~ And we decided I would give him some green tea before bed. (Caffeine has the opposite effect on him. It helps him to calm down instead of hyping him up.) He also uses Melatonin (another herbal helper) to help him chill at bed time. . Other wise he would be still awake till 11:30 and tired in the morning. Tonight he fell asleep at 10:30. That's not bad for him. Last night at 10:30 - after I fell asleep- he started cleaning his room. He did the whole (hardwood) floor of his room with my Lemon Pledge!! It looks great and smells great too today! (I think I will buy stock in Lemon Pledge!)

Math was a struggle as usual. I did pull out the manipulatives and I think that helped somewhat. He just really dislikes math. He doesn't retain it well. -- We also got done Science. We are studying Beautiful Feet's History of the Inventors. We are reading about Archimedes and his screw! We just read about different kind of levers today too. Then J typed words for his glossary for his science notebook. He hedged at this part, but I let him type them on the computer, so that eased the pain somewhat!

We got through English without too much of a struggle, and did some art. He wanted to have a contest who could draw the best house. Ever since his older brother introduced him to the Sims game on the computer a few years ago, J has fallen in love with drawing houses, and on the game he loves the interior decoration of the houses he builds.

We called it half a day today. We didn't do reading. We will have to catch up tomorrow morning. We just started reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. We put aside White Fang (Jack London)  for a while so we could do Ebenezer Scrooge before Christmas. Tonight we may go see the play at a semi local high school.

Then J fell asleep on the couch. I threw a blanket over him and hoped the dog won't be trying to push him off the couch while looking for a spot to sleep. She sneaks onto it when ever possible!

Hubby suddenly came down with an intestinal bug in the afternoon.  He was up and down a lot last night. Poor guy. Hoping he will feel better today!

Well- today  is our home school co-op. Our last one until next February. J has been in an ATC class. That's Artist Trading Cards. They are baseball card sized cards that the kids design with artwork of different sorts. Then tomorrow- our last day of this class- we will trade with each other.

Here are the kids working on some of their cards in class.

Here is the card he made that day. An owl on a branch with fall leaves. The owl got black dots for eyeballs.

Here are some finished cards in the card holders.

He also takes a current events class, a flag football class, and a study hall. J can hardly wait till co-op day each week. He wants to take a cooking class next semester! It is a lot of fun there!

And that was our Wednesday. Most of it anyway! Now... on into Thursday!
