I woke kind of early today. Early for me anyway. But with the time change it was 5:30am a week ago. But today it was 4:30am. None the less, I needed a nap when I got home from the school run , Just a wee one!
So... what's on the agenda for today? The usual chores, but also D and I are going to do a bit of shopping for some rice bowls to send to our new daughter-in-law. Her birthday is this week! She doesn't read this blog so I am safe mentioning it.
Mika is Japanese. She arrived here in the US last March right after the big earthquake in Japan. My son had met her over there while working on an organic farm and traveling. She is the sweetest girl.
So we are going shopping for these rice bowls. What is a rice bowl you may ask? Well.... obviously its a special bowl for rice. Here are some pictures of some:
Hopefully we will find some pretty ones. Well---- it's off to the grocery store for me now. I need to buy some cheese for eggplant parmesan. We have a cover dish sports banquet at school tonight with an Italian theme.
Have a nice day you all!
The sticky rice that Japanese cooks serve up is something that eludes me most of the time. I can make rice that is sticky(when it is not supposed to be), but not with that sweet flavor. Good luck with your search.
ReplyDeleteThe Japanese grow some different rices than we usually have here in the states. Also the most all use rice cookers. I have never used ( or have) a rice cooker, but maybe that makes a difference?
