Ecclesiastics 3:1-2
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity
under heaven...."
I have decided to try and be a little more organized when writing my posts. So hopefully this post will be very organized and will set a precedent for my future blogs. --
So anyway- our weekend has been a mixture of busy and not. Saturdays start out busy all the time- I sit with a friend from church who fell about a year ago and has some brain damage. She's about my mom's age which is 82. Her husband likes to go to men's Bible study at 7am (my hubby leads it), so I go and sit with J for an hour. She most times is relating her views on the book of Revelations. I keep telling myself that I need to buy her Joyce Myer's book called Happiness is a Choice! But this time she was going over the Wednesday night prayer meeting's prayer list using a huge magnifying glass which kept falling apart! I retrieved the lens about 3 times off the floor! She also started telling me about her (grown) daughter's new boyfriend. Then she stopped and said "but you don't need to know that," ~ (before she told me some juicy details about the relationship.)~ I told her she was right! I didn't need to know! I was very proud of her for catching herself before telling me her daughter's relationship's history!
Then I walked the block and a half home in the wonderful fresh early morning air, and tried to wake my almost 14 year old son to go help with making subs for our sub sale. I was totally not successful with that, so I grabbed some breakfast and then walked over and helped make the 100 or so subs for the sale. We kind of have a production line and it works great! first cut the rolls, line them all up, put some oil on, then the ham, salami, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, oregano and salt and pepper, then the guteguine (spelling?). I think I remembered it all!! Hot peppers on the side!
So..... I made it out of there about 1:30 or so and came home to get some chores done. Daughter D and Son J were up by then and I discussed chores with the two of them. They are NEVER receptive of chores. But... I do get some work out of them usually. Last weekend J did a lot for me. He helped wash the car, wash the dog, and some other things too. This week we got a few things done, then went to the ball park to watch our son's friend play baseball. We sat with his dad and grandmom who are also friends of ours. I love watching the kids who are SO serious about the game. Thankfully there weren't any of those obnoxious parents you hear about.
When I got home from there, my husband was landscaping around the backyard. He loves to plant flowers around the garden or the fishpond. That is his hobby! ~~~ So the day progressed from there. We had a good evening and even slipped out for ice cream at the local custard stand with the kids. J and I got soft vanilla custard with rainbow jimmies, daughter D got "White Christmas Milkshake" (a heavenly blend of coconut and vanilla!!!!), and Papa bear got Whitehouse Cherry ice cream in a cup. I LOVE the Whitehouse Cherry ice cream!! (This is a picture of the actual place from their website!)(Everyone has a website these days!)
I finally found the podcast that I was listening to before returning my other Ipad. Thank goodness for the warranty my hubby got for me! It wasn't working so I just traded it back to Best Buys and only paid $30 for an upgrade to the Ipad 2 with a camera on it. Well worth it. And I bought a new year warranty! (I had only weeks left on the other warranty!)~~ Anyway- the podcast is by a woman whose husband is deployed in Germany, so she and her 7 year old daughter live in Germany and she has this podcast where she tells about all her knitting projects, books she is reading with her book club, life for she and her daughter in Germany, and just amusing things happening round the place. It's called "Addicted to Yarn." I found it on Itunes and downloaded some pod casts on my Ipad. -- I finally finished the back of the sweater I am working on for Son J. (I quit the baby onesy type sweater I was making for my grandson. I kept making mistakes and I really didn't like the yarn very much.) ~~ Here is the beginnings of the front side of the sweater. I am only on the ribbing so far. I will probably have to go out to get more yarn before long. I should have bought more to start with. I bought all this dark purple color yarn for a project and now I have lost the magazine with the instructions in it!! Drat!
Well- this blog has gotten kind of long. I didn't mean for it to. I'll end with a picture of the peanut butter cookies I made last evening. I guess it was a more productive day then I thought!
See you next time!
(couldn't find the picture of the cookies!)
It made me laugh--determined to get organized at the outset, not finding a picture of your cookies by the end. But you certainly were productive!
ReplyDeleteWell.... oh well! I will try again next time! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI was looking for the cookie picture!!! I have a baking itch, I'm probably going to go bake something in a couple minutes...
