We had a great Easter filled with family. I can remember when our kids were younger, we would trek around to the grandparents (and great grandparents) house for Easter dinner and an egg hunt. Now only one of the grandparents are with us. Neither are the great grandparents. So... our kids -who are mostly grown now- all come here (those who are not already living here!)
We had 11 guests for Easter dinner. Family and friends. My son's girlfriend contributed to dinner by making a tomato basil salad (delicious!) and asparagus with butter and garlic. My daughter wanted to make lasagna, and I made ham, sweet potatoes, au graten potatoes, and some sides.
Our son N was supposed to arrive Monday morning, but surprised us by arriving with his family about 6pm. The other kids knew he was coming sooner, but kept it a surprise from us! Those rascals! Son J looked out side and saw Yuka, N's dog! (J wasn't let in on the secret either! I guess they thought he would squeal!)
We had a great visit with our grandson and his mama and papa (our son N and wife M.) Monday we went to the Philadelphia Zoo. N has always hated zoos because of the poor animals being held hostage, and the looks on the gorillas faces only supported his thoughts! We went because his wife M wanted to go. We did have fun and I tried not to think about the hostage situation! It's funny when you think about all the places we take little ones during their first two years, that they have absolutely no rememberance of later on!

This guy wouldn't look at me for anything! His head is huge! |
So..... Easter was good. I do miss my grandmother's strawberry shortcake she used to make each year, but maybe next year I will attempt one of those!
Today I gave my son J a "trim" which translates to haircut! He NEEDED it badly! And I got him while he was playing a video game, so it wasn't too bad!
And this afternoon we had our homeschool co-op. That's always uplifting! A mom in our knitting class brought in her spinning wheel and showed us how she spins. That was really good. I think I want to get a spinning wheel! The yarn she made was really nice! I am wondering how many plies they are miking it.
Well-- I need to set the table and finish making chicken. I am feeling tired but I need to get dinner ready.
Have a good night everyone!
You know, I hate the idea of zoos, but I enjoy seeing the animals.
