Those days of pretzels and popcorn and cheer!
Roll out those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy days of Summer!
You'll wish that summer could always be here!"

(The edited version of the song. We sang it for 6th grade graduation from Friends School!)

Yesterday was quite a lovely day out. A friend was complaining it felt like fall instead of summer! I was not complaining. It was nice. High 80's all day. ~ I water bathed my Peach /Blueberry Jam I had made the day before,  then spent a good while cleaning up the kitchen. It needed it after all the cooking I had done in the past few days. You know,  around the edges! I moved things out and cleaned underneath and behind.

I also finished up my assignment for my writing class I am taking. It's late, but I was able to let the instructor know I was sending it in late. I had to send in some outlines for story ideas. It was hard. I had great notes from a Starbucks we stopped at up in Princeton (NJ) but when I put them down on paper-- no story came together. I struggled with that one. The other one came much more naturally. Then I had to list 3 magazines that might accept my stories. -- It's a teaching method, I know, but it was difficult this time.

Later after lunch and after some chores, I took my teenager and two of his friends swimming at a friends pool. She and her husband gave us an open invitation to their pool. I didn't swim today. I caught up on some reading I have been wanting to do. The book I have been working on - "Call the Midwives- II" It is about some midwives in the 1930's in the west side of London. They live with some Nuns who are also midwives.
I really enjoy the stories of the women they work with and just the stories of the midwives themselves and the nuns.

Anyway- later I took the boys to Mc Donalds for dinner (their request) and brought some home for my husband. He didn't want it, so son J ended up eating his later. -- Then we had a nominations committee meeting at church. For joy, for joy! Actually, it wasn't too bad.

Today is HOT again, but not as hot as the really hot weather we had. I heard someone on the radio saying that because of the global warming, the weather was going to be more extreme than when we grew up. I do believe this. I just wonder when we will have snow this year? And how much? (I do like snow.)

So.. I made some Peach/blueberry jam on Monday. Not too many blueberries, but it colored the jam a purplish color. I can't wait to try it! After our mission trip I want to do more peaches (maybe butter) and hopefully pretty soon start in on apples. And my grapes should ripen by the beginning of Sept. Then it's rush rush rush to make the juice. They ripen all at once and there's so many! I usually spend an entire week on that project. Thankfully, the kids help pick them in between the bees that gather!

They will be purple when ripe.

Our mission trip is to Indiana again to work at Jacob's Well- The House of Hope. It's an old school that is being converted to a women's shelter. Still needs more work. We worked there last year too. The sad thing is that the neighbors are starting to give them a hard time about opening it. They don't want riff raff in their neighborhood! This shelter will be for homeless women and their children. It's not a permanent shelter, just temporary. I hope the neighbors settle down.

Well-- I have to go work on some laundry now. I have a mountain of it waiting for me. I may turn the AC back on too. Today is getting too muggy to be without it. I may need to catch a cat nap before I tackle the folding of the laundry though. My hubby was up at 5:30 today to go to Men's Breakfast at 6. When ever he does that, I end up not being able to really fall back to sleep, and it happened again. Now I am exhausted.
Talk to you all later! Hope you are having a productive but relaxing summer day!!
