We have been very busy here in the past few weeks. I know I haven't posted in a little while and I apologize to my readers.

One of the things on our list that we have been doing is a mission trip to Indiana. A group of 6 teens and 4 adults left the church parking lot at 6:30 am two weeks ago today. We drove to New Albany,  Indiana. That's where the camp is that we usually stay at for our mission trip. It's called Silver Heights Camp. It's part of the Ohio Falls Holiness Camps. I don't know if I got all that straight, but it's mostly right.
We stay in cabins. The girls in one and the boys in another. There were 3 boys and 7 girls on this trip. So the girl's cabin was once again wall to wall bunks like last time. We get a big cabin with two showers and two toilet stalls and two sinks, but it's still a wait at shower time!
Here are some pictures of what we did on our mission trip.

On the way down in West Virginia

Breakfast that we cooked and served at a homeless shelter in Louisville.

Some of the kitchen crew.

We served about one hundred and thirty people. Mostly men but a few women also.

Our main work was at an old school that is being converted into a shelter for homeless women and their children.  This was the last day in this room. We had already scraped, taped around the edges, overed the big old black boards with plastic, and we painted. There were several large rooms that needed painting.

Back at the school were scraping and painting. This is the last day and this room looks pretty good in this picture.

It was pretty hot work!

We also spackled dry wall.

We took off on Wednesday and took the kids to Holiday World which is an amusement park/ water park. The kids enjoyed some down time and so did we adults too!

It was a fun and exhausting week. Our devotions for the week were taken from the book of James in the New Testament. It speaks of standing up under trials and taming the tongue. Two important lessons for the teens and adults alike during a week of hard work and living with each other with no break for an entire week. Especially that long trip in the van (about 12 hours). This year we took the van and our car also. All the kids wanted to ride together so my husband and I got to ride along. LUXERY! But it was still a long trip. Next year we will do it all again! As long as we are needed there. It's all worth it and it's such a wonderful teaching experience for the kids to learn to give of their talents and time to others in need.
