Rocky Mountain High in Colorado

Well, it's been a while since I have written on this blog. I was away for a little while and then I had to take the computer tower to Best Buy to be cleaned by the Geek Squad there. They found 40 viruses! Good Grief!

A couple of weeks ago my older brother D and and I flew to Colorado to see our younger brother J who has been in the hospital for about 2 +   months now. He went in with severe COPD. He was in intensive care for about 4 weeks or so. He was on a ventilator and feeding tube and other tubes. They really didn't think he was going to make it. When we saw him they had moved him over to a long term facility. Praise God he is improving! While we were there her walked for the first time with a walker! He was speaking better and started eating solid foods. -

It was a shock to see him- I haven't seen him in many years- the sickness really took a toll on him. But now he is moved to the other side of the facility to the Physical Therapy side. He is walking better with his walker, the trach they had put in his throat was removed (he has a nasal cannula- tubes up the nose hooked up to oxygen) and he is doing lots better. Only by the grace of God!!

It was my first trip to Colorado ever. My older brother had lived there for 25 years so he showed me around a little. We got to travel up the mountains to a town called Estes Park. We were staying in Thorton which is right next to Denver. The mountains are gorgeous!  I am used to the Appalachian Mountains. They don't seem so tall next to the Colorado Rockies!

The town of Estes Park reminded me of a town in Maine- Camden- that we like to visit. They both are full of touristy shops and small restaurants. Only Camden,  Maine had a small harbor behind the shops with many beautiful schooners. Estes Park has the Mountains. -- I got some tee shirts to bring back home and a great handcrafted clay tea pot in a resale shop for the historical society. I was proud of finding such a good buy! It was only $10. We had lunch in a small tavern that served up some delicious food.

I enjoyed the plane rides too. My brother was annoyed that South West Airlines didn't assign seats and he got a middle seat the first time and an isle seat (seemed like a good seat to me) the second time. I got a window seat the first time and a middle seat the second time between two very interesting women.

By the way, I didn't see any Pot Shops in Denver or anywhere else! I was asked about that when I got home! Ha Ha! I guess people expected there to be shops everywhere selling marijuana now that it's legal out there. The only sign of weed that I saw was a big leaf on the back of a tee shirt I almost bought (till I saw the leaf)! Now wouldn't that have been just great for the preacher's kids to be wearing around town!

Well-- it is getting late. We had choir practice tonight. Sunday- Palm Sunday- is our Cantata at church. It will be beautiful and I enjoy singing in the choir, but our director is a perfectionist and we do grow weary of the many MANY practices, especially as we get close to the day!

Have a good weekend every one. I am going to add a picture I got off of facebook of some really interesting biscuits! ~~ Till next time~ God bless.

  2. Colorado is a beautiful state for sure. I think the bunny buns are adorable. I will have to do this with the grand kids next week.
