I am sitting here at the computer typing this and thinking of all the chores I have to do and things I should be accomplishing this morning! ~~ Bible Study was interesting this morning. We talked about Worship and people expressed opinions on the two services we currently have at our church.
The 8:30 service is called Cafe Church. It is more informal. We have a buffet table with coffee cake and fruit and quiche and a few other things and also coffee and tea and juice available throughout the service. The attendance is smaller than the 10am service which is upstairs in the sanctuary. This past week we had 31 people at 8:30 service. People are able to interact with the pastor and make comments or ask questions during the service and even during the sermon if need be. The pastor (my hubby) enjoys interaction. - We do have the piano and use hymnals too.
The 10am service is more formal but also has LOTS of kids in attendance. We get sometimes 20 some kids. The pastor does a junior sermon and one of the kids bring in The Box. They are allowed to put something in the box- anything- and the Pastor has to do a junior sermon on what ever is in the box. It's been really interesting and the kids love trying to stump him! --The 10am service has all the trimmings like the choirs- bell, chimes, jr. bells, kids choirs- cherubs and junior choir, and senior choir. So people who like more music come to the 10 am service. Kids leave about 10:30 to go downstairs to junior church and when church is all over, there is sometimes refreshments and always Sunday School. --- That's our Sunday mornings.
This is the life we lead and have led for the past 30 years! That's how long my husband has been a pastor. So it's hard to understand when people don't give a hoot about going to church to worship. Oh well, that's not what I wanted to dwell on in this blog. ~~~~~ to be continued.....
Continued....... The baby is crabby this afternoon. She takes a short nap then wakes crying and wants to be held! She's had a few days like this this week. Her fingers are constantly in her mouth! I suspect she's working on a tooth! She's 4 months old now so it wouldn't be out of the question!
I am going to try and get the kitchen floor done while she is napping now, so farewell and happy Mother's Day ladies!!
i like the idea of cafe church.
