Enjoying Family and Fall!

It is very quiet in the house tonight. An exercise we used to do in creative writing in high school was to come home and just sit still for a moment and write down all that we heard. - If I were to do that right now, I would have to list the occasional car passing by, the slight noise of the computer and just me pecking away at the keyboard! Usually, my teenage son has on either music or his NBA (basketball) video game. During her waking hours, my little grand daughter would be playing in the living room and if my husband was not at a meeting he would be watching the TV news or NCIS.

My son J is at the homecoming dance at his high school right now. He and his buddy went solo, or stag as we used to say. They don't say that anymore! Here they are...

The young man on the left is my son. The one on the right is his side kick. They were looking pretty slick tonight. That bow tie was the kind that goes all the way around under the collar. I think the last time he wore a bow tie he was very young and it was a clip on! Ha ha!  He said he had no intention of dancing with any girls tonight... but why go to a dance and get all dressed up if that was not your plan. I hope they have a great time tonight and dance with some pretty girls.

My husband took vacation this past week. It was one of those "stay-cations!"  I have told him many times that the vacate in vacation means just that! So..... it was a vacation for him and not necessarily me. I still had laundry, dishes, clean up, etc. etc. He did some gardening done and some other things he's been saving up. -We did get to go see our son A and his fiance in Pa. though. We drove 3 hours there and then about 6 hours later (after a visit and dinner), 3 hours home. I tried to convince him that we should stay over, but he had his mind set that we were coming home! So I made myself stay awake all the way home to make sure he stayed awake too! We got home at 12:30! (He doesn't like me to drive on long trips; only rarely do I do that.)

The next morning the physical therapist came out bright and early to see our grand daughter. (I could have postponed her!) She said that little A is doing extremely well! She is 9 1/2 months now and can pull herself up on things, hold on with only one hand, cruise around the coffee table, crawl on her hands and knees (she was doing the combat crawl for the longest time and not using her left leg!) and she sits with no problem now. Also, she crashes a lot less. She has learned to get down slower and more gracefully from a standing position. She is also getting into everything already! She finds my hidden magazines and rips and starts to munch on them in a flash! She's our little goat! -- She has no teeth yet so she teethes on everything! Those teeth will probably come in two at at time when they do come! - She is only 16 1/2 pounds. A real little peanut! -- I was told that since she is our foster daughter as well as our grand daughter-- that I cannot put her picture on social media (anymore.) --That's no fun!

During last weekend, our oldest son D came to the house and did many odds and ends chores. He refinished the upstairs hallway floor, touched up many places on wood work with nice bright white enamel paint, took things to the basement and some other things to the attic, etc. He also got the use of the internet that he doesn't have at his house. -- Right now he is in Pittsburgh. He is part of a rock band and they are on tour. They start in Pittsburgh, go to Atlanta. Georgia with stops in between, and then head up to Chicago and back to Philly. They will be gone for 5 weeks. I am praying for safe travels for them.

My husband has been gone on a men's retreat called Walk to Emmaus. Named after Paul's historic walk in the Bible. He (my hubby) is helping to lead the retreat. He left Thursday afternoon and will get home Sunday night late. Someone else is preaching for him in church tomorrow. He did have to come home today for a wedding though. It was an interesting one! The couple were in their 50's, he wore a camouflage colored vest and she had a camouflage wedding dress. His sister made the outfits for them. Here's the wedding cake their niece made them! The wedding and picnic reception was in their backyard. Lots of fun!

All the little jars had cupcakes in them.

Well-- our dog Katie just got up and is wandering in to nudge me and remind me that she needs to eat and visit the back yard.

Have a good night and enjoy the cooler weather! I know I am!

Be blessed and be a blessing.
