As I was jotting down a recipe in an old notebook today, I found a poem I wrote 14 years ago! So I wrote another one to match it.
Early Morning Glimpses (Apr. 2006)
Bright sun shining
Through lace curtains
Victorian splendor.
Shelves and shelves
Books used and newer
Knowledge waiting to emerge.
Photos of children
Math papers and magnets
My refrigerator.
Fish swimming aimlessly
Dogs sprawled out sleepily
Glimpses of my home in early morning.
Early Morning Glimpses (Nov. 2020)
Sunrise blooming
Through tree branches
Orange and pink and purple.
A shelf of golden silk flowers
An Indian doll, a pumpkin
And autumn leaves.
Cheery children's faces
Peering down at me
From the dining room wall.
Cat stretched out on back of couch
Dogs snoring in their beds
Glimpses of my home in early morning
I just found the older poem so interesting. I had to write a new one to match it. Different years, different houses, completely different places! We moved in 2010 and again in 2017. (Methodist pastors move around.) Now that my husband is semi retired, we aren't moving anymore! We bought a house to be sure of that!
Well, it is late. I wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. Are you staying home? Is your table going to be set for a smaller gathering? We are having dinner with my son and family that we see at least once or twice a week. We figured we are in the same bubble so it was ok. --
Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
"Enter His courts with thanksgiving and His gates with praise." Psalm 100:4
Nice.
