After Christmas!

Deer walking on frozen lake

I wrote the beginning of this post the day after Christmas but didn't finish it. My life is hectic and busy to say the least and sometimes I don't get to have time for my own projects- like this blog.  So please bear with me.  😉

T'was the day after Christmas, and all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse! Mostly because we were pooped out! - Christmas was good, but my hubby and I were worn out by evening. We started out about 3:30 am when the little one - Miss A- climbed into bed then hopped out again to check if Santa had come.

The power had gone out at 1:30 am and I had two more gifts to wrap. At least Santa had stopped by and filled the stockings before that happened! At about 5, Miss A hopped out of (our) bed again and informed us that Santa had indeed come and she started opening a present. - I quickly told her it was still night time and she had to wait! -- We ended up getting up about an hour later. We had candles-- very cozy!

My daughter D and I prepared food  for the day. She wanted to plan most of it, so I let the reins loose. We had goat cheese and a wine cheese and crackers on the table through the afternoon and later for dinner we had ham and sweet potatoes (made with apples and brown sugar and cinnamon. Turned out well!) My daughter also made a giant ziti. So, along with some other things, it was a good dinner.

Since  Christmas, a lot has happened in our household. Some good, some not so good. Our new dog Bella has been unleashing (no pun intended!) herself. No more honeymoon period. She sneaks food from the table when she can, she constantly licks out the cat bowl, and she often finds little places to escape the yard and run off into the woods. She is part pit and part pointer. She is very lovable but very afraid of strange men. She shakes when a new man is around. She obviously has been abused in the past. She also crouches quickly to the floor when being scolded.

Snowball and Bella
We have celebrated two birthdays. Granddaughter A turned 6 and I turned 65! Yikes! How did that happen? Oh well. I went through the procedure of signing up for different health insurance and all. So that is settled. It wasn't really too bad. -- And granddaughter A is 6! Time is slipping by too fast! She had virtual school 3 days before Christmas and the first week of January. That was tough. Too much wait time and it was hard for her to stay put. But we made it. It was quite funny actually. "Mrs. Z can I go to the bathroom?" "Mrs. Z can I blow my nose?" And that was from most of the kids in the kindergarten class!

Our son J had an accident with our car. It was only by the grace of God that he walked away from that one! The car was totaled. I do believe God has something important in store for him in his future. He just has to get there in one piece!!

So that's about it for now. It is Saturday and a snowy day too. It's been snowing off and on outside and there are gold finches and chickadees and mourning doves out on the deck nibbling seed. ~ Have yourself a good day and stay safe. 😷
