Fair Days

We went to the fair. It was fun. Our granddaughter A had a super time! She got a prize for a fishing game and she tried another game but didn't win there. Everything was $5 each, but rides were free with the wrist bands we bought at the entrance. They do rake in the $!

The ferris wheel was lots of fun! There were many unruly teenagers in line though. And a mother of one of the teens who was apologizing all up and down to me for her 15 year old son's language. She had 6 kids and this one in particular had a foul mouth. Boy, does she have her hands full! - But I assured her I did not judge. I've been through the teens with the 6 of my own. It can be a difficult time.

We also saw some of the animals. Somehow we missed the rabbits and chickens, but we saw the  goats, sheep, cows and pigs! And then we watched a judging of some steer that some 4-H kids had raised. One bull decided to gallop around the ring! Everyone else took their animals to the side while about 5 people rounded up the rebel bull! Those steer were more than 10 times the weight of the kids showing them!

And then there's the fair food. Everything from bacon on a stick, to the usual cotton candy, to hot dogs, cheese steaks, gyros, fresh squeezed lemonade, ice cream and more. I got a chicken cheese steak which was pretty good. My granddaughter got chicken nuggets and fries and my husband got a steak sandwich. We all got the fresh squeezed lemonades which only came in a large size for $7 each! But it was all good. There were many tiny babies out for the evening with their moms and dad. We even saw one young mom sooth a crying tiny one by nursing as she was walking around. No cover up. -- Lots of interesting sights at the fair. Lots of tired parents at the end of the night too. Some were not handling the stress very well. Other's were enjoying everything with their kids and lugging giant stuffed bears and whales around fair.

We ended up by sitting and listening to a singer on the stage, whom granddaughter A thought was wonderful. We sat and ate our twist cones while she sang. I know A was dreaming of being on stage herself someday! She's such a character!

Today is supposed to be 92 degrees. Ugh! I don't do hot weather well, so I will find some projects inside today. I already had to hunt down the naughty Bella dog who takes off every once in a while. That dog!!!!

                                     Enjoy your August!

  1. It's kind of crazy how expensive Fairs are, but they are an experience for the grandkids. You are of the trooper variety!
