N opened the hood to check things out, and the radiator hose bursted right then and his face was sprayed with scalding water and anti freeze! He ended up with burns all over his face and around his eyes! Thank God it didn't get into his eyes! ~ So he is doctoring his face with ointment and some herbs. (He's big into herbal medicine.) I don't know exactly what he is using. He assures me he is healing well and doesn't think he will have scars. Only if he gets a very dark tan, there may be white areas that don't tan. For now he is wearing a hat to shade his face and sun glasses for his eyes. But this week is supposed to be rainy down here, so I think New England will probably be wet and not too sunny also. That's good for him.
Next I noticed the dreaded bullseye ring on my husband's lower leg. I told him what I thought it was, and when he begrudingly went to the doctor, they agreed. They said they didn't need to do a blood test. They immediately prescribes antibiotics. Now he has to take them either 2 hours before he eats or 2 hours after, twice a day. (I resisted the urge to say "I told you so!" but I must admit, I thought it! Ha Ha!)
Next I got a message on the computer from our son #1's girlfriend on Sat. that our son D was in the hospital! The previous night he had fallen from the stage where he and his band were performing and landed in the mosh pit. It was apparently quite a fall. They got him back on stage and he sat on a stool and finished his set, while sweating profusely. He was in a lot of pain. His girlfriend and another friend (who was a nurse) took him to the hospital which was the best orthopedic hospital in the city. It was the one where the nurse friend worked. So in the long run, he had surgery and has two rods in his leg- on the tibia (below the knee). One is about 3 1/2 inches long and the other right next to it a little shorter. Lots of screws too. As of yesterday he was still in a lot of pain. I am sure there is going to be some physical therapy in his future before he's well.
It was so hard waiting through his surgery and then while he was in the recovery room! My daughter D and I waited 7 hours in the waiting room, (surgery was 2 1/2 hours) and only got to visit with him only about an hour, most of which he drifted in and out of sleep. My husband came in for about 10 minutes and when son D was awake for a few minutes, his dad prayed for him. Don't you know the next day our son called and thanked his dad for stopping in to see him! Oh well- I had to chuckle to myself. Isn't that just always the way? The mom stays all day and dad gets the credit. That's OK. I was glad to be there.
So I called our son A in Pa. and told him not to get sick or hurt and to avoid all accidents! We don't want this to be a rolling thing of accidents! It has to end now! I hope.
I decided to leave the whole family in the Lord's hands. What control do I have anyway, and I know worrying won't do a thing but wear me out. My mom worries enough for all of us anyway!!
So-- on a different note, I just started a new knitting project for our upcoming grand baby.
Ollie the Octopus
I am making Ollie yellow instead of purple. Son N has something against purple. (?)
Crazy!!! I hope everyone heals very fast.
ReplyDeleteAnd purple is my favorite color! Why does N not like purple????
