"We know all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
Romans 8:28
It has as usual been a busy week or so. Our grand daughter is growing quickly. She has just about doubled her birth weight of 5 lbs. 4 oz. She is a sweetie . The splitting image of her mama at that age. She hasn't quite been sleeping through the night , but one of these nights......
Recently I have come to some realizations in my life that I want to make note of. Some of you may say Yes, so..? But for me these are major. I am someone who always analyzes things. I try to make sense of things that happen, especially to those close to me. Recently while discussing events with a friend, I concluded that there are somethings in life that just can not be understood or explained. They just are. They just happen. No rhyme or reason. Only God can understand why these things happen and only He can deal with these things. Some things just make no sense to me. I am not going to explain exactly what I am talking about. I just wanted to note that revelation that I came to. I can't think of a better word for it right now.
While talking to my friend, I was able, with out giving it prior thought, to give him some insight on his situation. It didn't solve his problem, but I think I did shed some light on things. It was all about trust. He couldn't understand why somethings were happening in his household the way they were, and I explained who seemed to trust who in this situation. It made sense.
I wonder why I always feel things have to make sense. I am sure my husband would disagree with me right off the bat. His favorite saying is "there are no shoulds in life. " I disagree with this, but that's ok.
So... by the end of this week Spring will be here. I have done much better this year in reading through my winter devotions. -"Quiet Places of the Heart in Winter." compiled and edited by Terri Gibbs. Every winter I try to read one devotion every day and quite often only make it through half the book. This year I almost made it all the way through. I am going to continue until I finish this year whether its Spring or not.
I must admit I am looking forward to warmer weather once the wet season of melting snow and rain is gone. Up north where we used to live we called it the 5th season. The MUD season.
To end this blog I am going to share the devotion today - A Picture of Patience.
The word "Patience" as it is used in the New Testament, really has no true equivalent in the English language. certainly it does not mean merely being placid and phlegmatic as so many people assume.
Patience is the powerful capacity of selfless love to suffer long under adversity. It is that noble ability to bear with either difficult people or adverse circumstances without breaking down...
Patience is the potent perseverance that produces positive results even under opposition and suffering. It is love, gracious, self-giving, pressing on, enduring hardship, because of the benefit it may bring to others...
The patience of the New Testament writers is that of a small donkey bearing enormous burdens of firewood, sacks of grain or other produce for its owner. Year in, year out, surely steadily safely it transports loads of goods from place to place in quiet compliance with its master's wishes.

My take away from your post today is: Have patience and the meaning will become clear when needed.
ReplyDeleteI like your wise interpretation. It's the patiently waiting part I have problems with sometimes!
