Poetry and Grand Children

I am sitting here biding time until dinner time next door at church. Every Tuesday night until Easter we are having Lenten dinners. ~I am also typing with one hand as my other hand is holding the grand baby on my lap.

She is definitely a little creature of habit. She has been getting baths in the mornings mostly because our old house gets chilly at night and also because she has started sleeping through the night and is soaking wet in the mornings! So far she has slept through 4 nights, just not in a row! This morning Grand Pop had baby duty while I went to early Bible study. When I got home baby A was asleep, but soon woke up. Grand Pop had changed wet diapers, given her a bottle and played with her too. (He's a great Grand Pop!) I held her when she woke and changed her again. Then she got all antsy until I took her up for a bath.

I looked at my son J's school work when he got home from school today. I guess they are working on poetry. He has the lyrics to "The Escape" by Rupert  Holmes. I think its a 70's song. The chorus goes "If you like Pina Coladas, getting caught in the rain, if you're not into yoga, if you have half a brain........" ----- I do remember this song, although I have never seen the lyrics written out.

Here's another poem he had. A narrative poem.

              "Do You ever feel

                Like a plastic bag
                Drifting through the wind
                Wanting to start again?

                Do you ever feel
                Feel so paper-thin
                Like a house of cards
                One blow from caving in?

                Do you ever feel
                Already buried deep
                Six feel under
Screams but no one seems to hear a thing?

                Do you know that there's
                Still a chance for you?
'Cause there's a spark in you
                 You just gotta

                 Ignite the light
                 And let it shine
                 Just own the light
                 Like the fourth of July.

                  Baby, you're a firework
Come on let your colors burst
Make them go "Oh, oh, oh"
As you shoot across the sky"
                          (and so forth .........)

I like that second poem better actually, although I think it is also a song that I don't know the tune to. It's interesting to see what the English teachers use for examples to teach poetry and grammar.

Well-- it's time to go and now the Bambino is sound asleep. I wonder if I should take her over asleep or just stay home. -- I think I will bundle her up and take her over. The fellowship time is great at Tuesday night Lenten suppers.

I hope you all have a good night what ever you are doing. Enjoy yourself and your family and friends. Time slips by quickly when you don't notice! -- Just a little tibbit there! Good bless your evening or morning--
